2023 W. Harry Archer award
The 2023 W. Harry Archer Award recipient is Peter D. Waite, MPH, DDS, MD.
Peter D. Waite, MPH, DDS, MD is a Past Professor and McCallum Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Alabama. He is now Professor Emeritus and still teaches dental students, and residents. He received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and his M.D. from the University of Alabama School of Medicine.
Dr Waite has clinical expertise in impacted teeth, ortho-gnathic surgery, craniofacial, cleft lip/palate, facial reconstruction, cosmetic surgery, obstructive sleep apnea and dental implants. Dr. Waite is an internationally recognized lecturer, past president of the AACS, and editor of Peterson’s Principles of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He is recipient of the OKU, Fred Heney Award, the Don Osborn Outstanding Educator Award, The William Gies Award, the Daniel Laskin Award, and the AAOMS Clinical research Award. He has advanced the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery with publications in rhinoplasty, sleep apnea surgery, cleft craniofacial surgery, and ERAS (enhanced recovery after surgery) in Orthognathic reconstruction. He has given many lectures around the world and published numerous articles and book chapters.
